Six policemen including SSP Neupane killed in Kailali clash

KAILALI, Aug 24: Six policemen including SSP Laxman Neupane have been killed during a demonstration in Tikapur in the district on Monday afternoon. The situation took a nasty turn after the irate cadres breached the restricted zone in Tikapur.
One SSP, two Inspectors, one Head Constable and one Constable from Nepal Police lost their lives in the incident whereas one Head Constable from Nepal Armed Police Force also lost his life.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the chiefs of the security agencies is underway.


Earlier Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal had said there were some casualties in the clash.
Talking to myrepublica, APF Spokespereson Pushpa Ram KC said that a team has been deployed in the area to gather actual information from the incident ground.
Around 20,000 demonstrators had picketed a police team led by SSP Laxman Neupane five km north of Tikapur. Additional police force has been deployed to the incident site.

Since las 13 days, Tharuwan/Tharuhat United Struggle Committee has been hitting the streets in the west tarai region demanding autonomous Tharuhat province including Kanchanpur and Kailai districts in the new federal structure.
