Local Police & two-year-old boy killed in Tikapur attack

Seven police personnel including one Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and a two-year-old boy have been killed in an attack by the Thaurhat cadres in Tikapur area of Kailali on Monday afternoon.

SSP Laxman Neupane, posted at the Seti Zonal Police Office Dhangadhi, was among those killed in the gruesome attack, according to Kailali’s Chief District Officer Raj Kumar Shrestha.

Police Inspectors Balaram Bista (District Police Office, Kailali), Keshab Bohara (Nepal Police Company Dhangadhi), Head Constable Laxman Khadka and policeman Lokendra Chand have died in the attack.

Likewise, APF Head Constable Lalit Saud (Ugratara Battalion Tikapur) and APF Ram Bihari Tharu are remaining victims of the deadly attack. The eyewitnesses said Head Constable Tharu has burnt alive after sprinkling petrol over his body.

One more body has been found nearby the paddy field, but the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, according to DIG Ram Kumar Khanal.

The two-year-old Tek Bahadur Saud was the another victim killed in the attack.

Seventeen police personnel and 21 APF personnel were injured in the attack and they have been admitted to local Tikapur Hospital. Of them, some are in critical condition.

Earlier, it was said that 16 police personnel died in the attack. However, the District Administration Office Kailali corrected the data in the evening. RSS
